A princess must find her place in a reborn world.

She flees on her wedding day.

She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor's secret collection.

She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father.

She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan.

The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can't abide. Like having to marry someone she's never met to secure a political alliance.

Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

Wow, this book did wonders to me. I usually don’t like romance in my fantasy but this one… I don’t know, it was just so mesmerizing! A lot of my friends didn’t like it so I expected I wouldn’t like it, too, but well, what do you know? It’s really worth it to give a book a try before you judge it. This is the second time this year that I have been proven wrong!

I wanted to do a review at first, but this book gave me so many feels that I wanted to discuss about a lot of things, so I ended up doing a lengthier, spoiler-full video instead. Only watch if you have read the book and want to discuss!

What about you? What did you think of the book? Did you like the love triangle? Did you like Lia? Let me know in the comments below or by commenting on the video! Don’t forget to give it a thumbs up and to subscribe to my channel!

I’m loving this video. Like you Faye, I wasn’t sure I would like this, but I ended up LOVING this book despite the love triangle (?) and other reviews of this. Also, I think that Kaden will appear more in The Heart of Betrayal. Unfortunately. YES TEAM RAFE FOREVER

Haha, I bet you were saying the same things I kept saying, Val! Don’t try to deny it!

And I agree, I really thought I’d end up disliking it. So many negative reviews out there that made me want to stay away from it, but I am so happy I gave it a chance as I enjoyed it so darn much!

I agree Faye! I gave it a try earlier in the year and fell in love with the book! I really liked Lia and how she decided to take her life into her own hands and give herself more choices!
The love triangle did bother me quite a bit, enough to take one star from my rating, but it still had 4 so, yeah… Awesome book!

I loved this book too! Like you, I didn’t want to read it at first (Holly made me do it! I had NO plans to ever read it, but I am so glad I did). Your videos are so hilarious too! I loved the whole “FUCK YOU KADEN” bwhahha because I was basically yelling the same thing, just to myself. And I agree with you about feeling ALL the things. I laughed, I gasped, I swooned, and I definitely cried (those scenes you described with her brother and then Eben’s horse, OMG. TEARS). I am happy to report that the second book? Also fabulous. VERY dark though. But still amazing. And still “Fuck you, Kaden”. ;) I am so glad you loved this one too!

YAY BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE HOLLY SAVED THE DAY! Seriously, I’m so mad at Kaden for doing the things he did! Then again, we wouldn’t have the same story, would we? ;) This book really caught my by surprise by how good it was!

    • FayeFaye says

IT REALLY WAS. I mean, it wasn’t the best book ever, but it was certainly entertaining. At least there wasn’t much flip-flopping! I guess that’s why the love triangle didn’t bother me that much!

RIGHT?!?!?! I remember reading this one, last year, and being completely mesmerized because I was just so into the romance. I love romance, but i’m definitely picky when it comes to what romances I like, but OHMYGOD The Kiss of Deception was impossible NOT to love. But of course, the book was SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST A LOVE TRIANGLE–Because, hello, I also fell in love with Lia. She was just amazing. I loved that she took charge of her future. LOVED IT.

YES! I’M NOT EVEN A FOLLOWER OF ROMANCE AND YET THIS ONE EASILY MADE ME SWOON LIKE JELLYBEANS. I mean, do jellybeans swoon? Okay, don’t mind me, I’m speaking gibberish. It really was so much more than romance – it was about independence and having the freedom to choose between that and duty – willingly.
